Manifest destiny was the thought of god as the reason they should expand
The Americans, who were very religious at the time, believed that it was destiny to control coast to coast and that god put them on this path. This basically numbed what they actually thought on the cruelty of taking people's land, using god as an excuse to expand. As the Americans were traveling and getting to know their new land, mexico allowed some of them in for personal prosper. In the background context is that Mexico was struggling in their new government and needed to a more population, these were one of the policies that mexico added in order stabilize their government, they felt threatened by the natives in their area And felt that the Americans were going to take over Texas. So they thought if they brought in settlers they would be able to stabilize mexico.
Attack on Chapultepec, Sept. 13th 1847
The Americans that came to Texas were the southern cotton farmers. These men brought slaves in there new land within the Mexican territory. In 1820 mexico started creating laws banning slavery. As mexico became a pit of distrust within the settlers and the Mexicans, the Mexicans started to attempt to enforce their order by abolishing slavery for good, imposing taxes, and ending any other settlements from the u.s. It was a failed attempt to gain control over their territory and war with the settlers seemed very unlikely to avoid. Relations with the Mexicans and the settlers deteriorated as Santa Anna abandoned the constitution in order to get his own army to confront the settlers and the Mexican soldiers were fearing so they went to retrieve their defense weapon only to find a flag saying "come and get it" from the settlers, starting the war.
The battle of the Alamo fought on 1835 in February
Texas volunteer groups were sent to occupy the Alamo, a former Franciscan mission. on February of 1835 Santa Anna brought thousands of men to siege the Franciscan mission while the Texans in hundreds were holding them off waiting for the reinforcements that never came and they held them off for thirteen days. This brought a slogan to the Texan settlers called "remember the Alamo". This gave them a sense of heroism and courage towards the oppression and the struggle to eventually gain their independence from their oppressors

the american army entered into mexico city after defeating battles who were defending the causeways . Although there was some resistance with the Mexican soldiers and the citizens as well. Santa Anna then signed his resignation giving the presidency to Meria de la Peria who then gave it up to general Scott who was the general of the american army, while Santa Anna fled the city thinking the american army was going to capture him
